Strength training for golf is essential to helping you create a more powerful golf swing and help increase your longevity in the game. There are a few downsides to strength training if not monitored properly,this why training on flexibilty is also important.
I am going to get very specific in the most important area to focus on while training is the importance of having a strong core. I'm talking about your back, abdominals, and oblique’s. These muscles centralise your whole body. Usually people tend to focus on bulking up their guns and think they have the power. But are never aware that having a strong core creates the power to execute absolute power.
Let me share with you some advice and strategies to help you create a strong, flexible, and toned body core to help you power out your swing and have your fellow golfer’s jaw dropping at your distance.
It is important to be aware of current diet, is it serving you and complimenting your training? If not, change it straight away, you will never get gains eating fastfood.
Find foods that have a high source of protein and are low in fat eg. boiled eggs,Lean red meat,fish etc. Muscle repair is really important after golf weight training so consume the right specific foods to maximise results. Very important also to drink plenty of water to replenish the body.
Now I highly recommend the use of a swiss ball.Please seek the advice of a personal trainer if you are unsure of how to use a swiss ball. There are many ab workout machines out there but I highly recommend a swiss ball. Not only will a swiss ball give you great core results, it will also require you to use your whole body to project exercise so you will get a whole body workout. It will help you with flexibility aswel to power out your golf swing.
